BMW 5 series tops August sales

The new BMW 5 series was the biggest selling car in Ireland for the month of August, according to motoring website Motorcheck.ie.

There has been a major turnaround in the new car sales market as figures have revealed a 50 per cent increase in new purchases.

The luxury BMW topped the selling charts with 349 of the 5 series models leaving the forecourts in the month of August.

The Toyota Yaris was the second most popular with 198 of the supermini cars being sold. A total of 5,061 new cars were sold in August.

The new BMW 5 series (pictured above) is renowned for its efficient engineering and its low VRT bracket. Ex-works prices for the model start at €41,750.
