Seamus McEnaney looks likely to be named as the new manager of the Meath senior football team after receiving the backing of the County Board executive following a meeting on Thursday night.
McEnaney’s name will now go before a meeting of club delegates next Wednesday for ratification. The former Monaghan manager is not yet assured of the job, however, as there is a feeling that a number of clubs are reluctant to appoint a manager from outside the county, something Meath have never done before.
McEnaney will hope, however, that the presence of Meath legends Liam Harnan and Martin O’Connell on a managerial team that also includes Paul Grimley and Martin McElkennon will help his case.
