Bear this in mind when heading home from work this evening.

Lengthy tailbacks have been reported on major routes around Dublin following collisions on the M1 and the M50 on Friday afternoon.

A multi-vehicle collision on the M50 near junction 7 Lucan has been the source of major delays, with commuters complaining of lengthy tailbacks at one of the busiest times for traffic of the week.

On the M1 Dublin to Belfast road, meanwhile, Dublin Fire Brigade and ambulance services were called to deal with two road traffic collisions between Junction 4 Donabate and Junction 5 Balbriggan.

Dublin Fire Brigade reported having left the scene by approximately 5pm on Friday.

With many commuters yet to hit the M50 on their way home from work, there could be traffic congestion for lengthy periods on Friday evening; be sure to check AA Roadwatch, Live Drive and M50 Dublin for updates before starting your journey.
