Over 250,000 spectators are expected to line the streets of Dublin next summer as Bavaria City Racing comes to town with F1 cars in tow.
City Racing sees F1 cars race on a modified track that is lined up around the streets of any big city. Past races have seen great successes in Moscow and Rotterdam.
The race is being sponsored by the Bavaria Beer Company and will be held over a one-day demo on Sunday 3 June 2012.
Gavin Collins, Managing Director of Bavaria City Racing Dublin, said, “It has been 16 years since Ireland witnessed the excitement of a current F1 car but Bavaria City Racing is about to change that.”
The race will be centred around the main tourist attractions in the city and will start at the Central Bank on Dame Street. The route will see the cars passing Trinity College, going down Burgh Quay and crossing the Samuel Beckett Bridge before finishing on Custom House Quay.
“The track has been specially designed to showcase some of the city’s oldest and most modern sites, including Trinity College, the Bank of Ireland, the Custom House and the Convention Centre," said Collins.
“While tickets will be on sale for some sections of the course, 96 per cent of the event will be free to spectators."
