PIC: Car stopped going crazy speed along Dublin quays

JOE

Man arrested 39 deaths

How would you even get up to this speed?

Anyone who has ever driven along the Liffey’s quays knows that it can be jammed at the very best of times… But some drivers still find a way to reach serious speeds.

On Monday morning, Gardaí shared a photo of a speed gun, which clocked a motorist on Wolfe Tone Quay going no less than twice the speed limit.

The photo was accompanied by the caption: “Speed checkpoint carried out at Wolfe Tone Quay by DMR North Central Roads Policing Unit. Fastest offender stopped doing 100kph, twice the speed limit! #SlowDown”

Earlier this year, the Gardaí shared a list of the worst speeding offences from 2018 so far — relative to the speed limit. At the time, the worst offence was a driver doing 139 kmph in a 50 kmph zone (clocked at R689 Gortnahoo, Thurles, Tipperary).
