Video: Have you ever seen a skid mark as long as this skid mark in Offaly?

No, not that type of skid mark

Conor Heneghan

If this isn’t Ireland’s longest ever skid mark, then it must be pretty close.

Sometimes they’ll have been put there by accident and sometimes by design, but sightings of skid marks are pretty common on Irish roads.

We don’t know what they get up to on the highways and byways of Offaly, but one motorist must have been up to no good on a road between Clonbullogue and Mount Lucas in the county lately.

A man known as Will Faulkner documented one of the longest skid marks we’ve ever seen earlier this week, providing as interesting a commentary as you could expect from someone describing a skid mark; it was positively Attenborough-esque at times.

Skidmarks in the bog! Not the poo kind…

In all seriousness though, it is a ridiculously long skid mark and you’d have to be concerned about the type of driving that led to it appearing in the first place.

Be safe behind the wheel lads.

Hat-tip to Stephen Holohan for sending this one our way
