This might be one of the best days for movies on the telly we’ve ever seen.

Yes, it is the weekend, so time to enjoy yourselves!

Maybe you want to head to the cinema? If so, then we fully recommend you check out our reviews for all the new movie releases, which you can see right here.

If you’re sitting in though, then you’ve got some genuinely great movies to choose from, starting with…

SATURDAY 16 FEBRUARY

Ghost Busters – Comedy Central – 6.00pm

The original, and best. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and loads and loads of ghosts that need busting.

Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back – ITV2 – 6.25pm

The first sequel, which will soon be the fifth movie out of nine, if that… makes sense? To a certain generation, this is the best sci-fi movie ever made. To another generation, it might be the second best Star Wars after The Force Awakens.

Inside Out – RTE One – 6.35pm

Pixar’s best movie? Discuss. We venture inside the mind of a young girl as she and her family move house, and we get to know the emotions in there that are finding it tough to keep control in the new circumstances.

Spy – Channel 4 – 9.00pm

One of Melissa McCarthy’s funniest movies, as she plays an assistant to an amazing spy (Jude Law), but gets sent into the thick of the action when he goes missing. Jason Statham and Rose Byrne provide hilarious support.

The Green Mile – More 4 – 9.00pm

Stephen King stories aren’t just for scaring. Sometimes they’re for crying. Like with this prison-set magical tale of an inmate on death row who may have been improperly incarcerated.

Inception – Syfy – 9.00pm

Leo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy and loads of other attractive people venture into the mind of a billionaire in order to make him change his mind about a business deal. It doesn’t sound that exciting, but trust us, it really, REALLY is.

Shaun Of The Dead – ITV2 – 9.00pm

A zom-rom-com, with Simon Pegg forced to make some tough decisions about his life and his girlfriend in the wake of a massive zombie apocalypse in London.

The Rock – RTE Two – 9.15pm

Nic Cage is a nerdy scientist and Sean Connery is an old prison escapee, and together they must break into Alcatraz in order to stop terrorists from blowing up San Francisco. Lots and lots of fun.

(500) Days Of Summer – TG4 – 10.00pm

Joseph Gordon-Levitt falls in love with Zooey Deschanel, and we travel back in forward across their relationship, from how they first met, to how painfully bad the break-up goes. A very funny, very original take on the rom-com.

Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes – FilmFour – 11.25pm

The best of the reboot trilogy sees mankind facing down the end of their time as the dominant species on the planet, while Caesar also must take on a competing leadership bid over the apes. Features one of the best scenes in modern cinema. Keep an eye out for the tank, you’ll know it when you see it.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
