10 important lessons from Elf will put you in the Christmas spirit

Timeless advice from Buddy the Elf...

Paul Moore

This is for anyone that’s a cotton headed ninny muggins.

If you need a little help getting into the Christmas spirit, here are 10 things that we learned from the classic Christmas film Elf that might help.

1) It’s ok to be drinking at work over Christmas.

Just tell your boss that it’s not a hip-flask full of whiskey, it’s maple syrup.

2) It’s fine to pig out on food.

We’ve based our entire diet upon Buddy the Elf’s culinary tips because much like Christmas elves, we try to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup.

3) Animals can always make you feel better.

Just make sure it’s not a rabid racoon though.

4) Christmas is the perfect time for romance

Here’s how you ask a girl out on a date.

5) When in doubt, behave like a kid.

6) Be nice to people.

This compliment about a purple dress works all the time. We still answer all of our phone-calls in exactly the same way.

7) Getting into a snowball fight can help.

We always wish for a white Christmas, just so we can go to the park and throw snowballs at any kids that might be passing us by.

We’re fairly certain that this amount of snowballs to the head would probably leave some of them unconscious though.

8) Avoid any South Pole elves.

We love that Buddy is still trying to hug Miles Finch even as he’s charging down the table.

He’s an angry elf.

9) Remind yourself that Santa is coming!

Everyone loves Christmas but Buddy the Elf REALLY loves Christmas…

10) If in doubt, just remember these timeless words.

“Of course you’re not an elf. You’re six-foot-three and had a beard since you were fifteen.”

“”I’m sorry I ruined your lives, and crammed eleven cookies into the VCR.”

“This place reminds me of Santa’s Workshop! Except it smells like mushrooms and everyone looks like they want to hurt me.”

“The best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear.”
