The 10 must-watch new (and old) arrivals on Disney+ this November

Some properly brilliant arrivals on the Disney+ service throughout the month...

Disney is celebrating the second birthday of Disney+ on 12 November with a big Disney+ Day, so there is a lot of stuff dropping on that day. BUT there are also plenty of other incredibly new (and classic) shows and movies dropping throughout the month of November, starting with... Face/Off - 5 November John Woo's iconic action thriller has John Travolta and Nic Cage as both the hero and the villain (depending on what part of the movie you're watching), following a series of face-swapping surgeries. Insane shoot outs and huge explosions ensue. One of the most purely entertaining action movies ever made. The Insider - 5 November In the Michael Mann movie lexicon, it is sometimes very easy to overlook the immense greatness of The Insider. It doesn't have the attention-grabbing nature of, say, Heat or Manhunter or Collateral. But it does have a pair of outstanding performances from Al Pacino and Russell Crowe at the centre of the true story about a whistleblower from a hugely powerful tobacco company. Dopesick - 12 November From Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson (Rainman, Disclosure, Sleepers) and the creator of the hit show Empire, this powerful new drama tells the story of how the opioid crisis took hold in the United States, all told from a multitude of different viewpoints. Featuring an incredible cast - Michael Keaton, Rosario Dawson, Michael Stuhlberg, Kaitlyn Dever, Peter Saarsgard, Will Poulter - the first two episodes are available on 12 November, with the rest of the season arriving weekly after that. Clip via Hulu Jungle Cruise - 12 November One of the most fun blockbusters of the summer, thanks to the incredible chemistry of both Emily Blunt and The Rock, this old-school adventure is channeling the likes of Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Mummy. Home Sweet Home Alone - 12 November Aisling Bea, Rob Delaney, Ellie Kemper and more star in this latest outing in the Home Alone franchise. We talked about the trailer right here, but we live in hope that the actual movie will be good fun... Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings - 12 November Marvel's latest blockbuster introduces us to a new hero, with Simu Liu playing the legendary Shang-Chi, and essentially bringing us on to the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe! We were lucky enough to catch up with Liu himself in the run-up to the movie's cinematic release, and you can check out that interview in full right here: Legion - 17 November Arguably one of the very best comic book shows of all time, leaning harder into the genres of science fiction and psychological horror, it revolves around the mutant David Haller (Dan Stevens). As he tries to control his own abilities, he is faced with both a shady government agency and weird sinister forces, both of which want to use his powers for their own nefarious purposes. All three seasons of the show will be available on 17 November. Hawkeye - 24 November Following on from the massive successes of WandaVision, The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, Loki and What If...?, the next Marvel show will focus on Hawkeye himself (Jeremy Renner), as he trains up a potential replacement (Hailee Steinfeld), all against a very Christmassy backdrop. We should fully expect the return of Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) too, out to get revenge for the death of her sister, the Black Widow. The first two episodes will arrive on 24 November, with the rest of the series arriving weekly. Clip via Disney Ireland The Beatles: Get Back - 25/26/27 November Peter Jackson (director of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) turns his hand to music documentaries, with this three-part look at January 1969, when the Fab Four attempted to construct 14 new songs in preparation for their first live concert in over two years. The documentary series will drop across three days late in the month. Big Trouble in Little China - 26 November John Carpenter's 1986 iconic cult sci-fi action-comedy (ALL of the genres!) follows Jack Burton (Kurt Russell) as he is dragged into a mysterious underworld beneath San Francisco's Chinatown, where a centuries-old sorcerer is about to break free from a curse and attempt to reclaim control of the world above.
