Reece Witherspoon won the Oscar for Best Actress, while her co-star Joaquin Phoenix was nominated for Best Actor, for their portrayals of June Carter and Johnny Cash in this much-loved biopic.

9/11 Memorial Titles – 10 September

To commemorate the 20-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Disney+ will be hosting a series of documentary titles telling stories around that day, including: 9/11 Control the Skies, 9/11: The Plane that Hit the Pentagon, and George W. Bush: The 9/11 Interview.

The Orville – 15 September

The first two seasons of this sci-fi comedy will be available to watch this month, with creator Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, American Dad) as the captain of a Star Trek-esque exploratory vessel, sent off into space to discover new life and new civilisations.

Deadpool – 17 September

Now that Disney owns Fox, the Marvel properties that Fox owned (the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, etc.) are now back under the Marvel umbrella (which Disney also owns). So that now includes Deadpool, and with Ryan Reynolds rumoured to be reuniting with his Free Guy director for the upcoming Deadpool 3, now is the perfect time to get reacquainted.

Y: The Last Man – 22 September

This looooooooong-in-the-making sci-fi drama is finally here! After a cataclysmic event has killed every mammal with a Y chromosome but for one man (Ben Schnetzer), who attempts to navigate the new world, which just happens to be run by his own mother, President Jennifer Brown (Diane Lane).

The Descendants – 24 September

This Oscar-winning comedic drama has George Clooney playing the distant father to two daughters (one of whom is Shailene Woodley), and is forced to attempt to reconnect with them when his wife/their mother suffers from a mysterious injury during a boating accident.
