12 important things you probably missed from the latest Game of Thrones trailer

Let's get forensic.

Game of Thrones trailer

Clues, mysteries and teasers in the latest Game of Thrones trailer.

The clock is ticking. July 16th people, July 16th! As Game of Thrones gears up for its seventh season, HBO released the latest trailer and it’s an absolute doozy.

We know that you’ve seen it 37 times already, but our resident Maester did a deep dive on all things Westeros.

How much of this did you spot?

Bran in The North.

We see the gates of Castle Black opening. The next shot from a distance looks an awful lot like Meera dragging Bran.

Jamie is paying his debts.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jamie Lannister) has been speaking about how his character is stepping up this season to replace Tywin as the head of House Lannister.

Well, it appears that Tywin is finally getting what he always wanted because this shot looks suspiciously like Casterly Rock – thus proving our previous theory.

You can also see him and Bron leading the Lannister forces against the Unsullied.

Daenerys will break the wheel.

As we already knew, Dany is back at her ancestral home of Dragonstone, but in a nice little piece of symbolism, you can see her actually pulling down the banners of House Baratheon.

It’s clear that she wants all remnants of Stannis’ tenure gone.

The Hound is doing what he does best.

It was a real blink and you’ll miss it moment, but everyone’s favourite killer is back and it appears that he’s no fan of winter.

The character appears to be very far north to us.

Send a raven.

Now this is interesting. In the battle sequence that features the Night’s King, you can clearly see the eyes of the raven change. We would be very surprised if this isn’t Bran warging.

As the Three Eyed Raven once remarked, “you’ll never walk again, but you will fly.” This appears to confirm that statement, especially since we see the leader of the White Walkers actually look up towards the sky.

The coolest shot in the trailer belongs to….

Yep, that’s Beric Dondarrion.

Do you remember him? Well, he’s the member of the Brotherhood Without Banners that constantly gets resurrected from the dead.

Could this be Lightbringer that he’s yielding? Game of Thrones fans might know that Lightbringer is the sword of Azor Ahai, a legendary hero who is prophesied to fight the White Walkers.

Lightbringer is thought to be a sword made of living fire. It is also known as the Red Sword of Heroes.

What is dead may never die.

Those sails? House Greyjoy.

That ship? It’s Euron’s one, Silence.

The destination? That looks like King’s Landing to us.

A potential Cersei and Euron alliance?

The Kingslayer is back.

One hand or not, Jamie Lannister is riding into combat.

The King in the North.

As we learned from the first trailer, Jon Snow is leading a wildling group beyond The Wall. Why, we reckon he might fancy retrieving that dragonglass that he left behind at Hardhome.

Maybe he fancies a preemptive fight rather than waiting for the White Walkers to arrive? The element of surprise perhaps by taking out the Night’s King and leaving the White Walkers without a leader.

Regardless of his reason, Jon looks like he’ll be squaring off against one of the Night King’s generals… again.

Row, row, row your boat.

Ok, this is speculation but we reckon that this person is Gendry.

It’s hard to make out but the body shape fits and we know that he’s coming back.

“I am the storm”.

Yep, there’s no doubt about it. That battle sequence at sea is led by Euron Greyjoy.

We wonder if he’ll manage to capture Theon or Yara?

“The lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.”

The last shot is very telling and we’re going to speculate.

Now, we’re happy to be corrected but it looks an awful lot like Jon Snow is fighting a wildling here. Not a White Walker.

Mmm, why would one of these wildlings turn on Jon?

Perhaps there is treachery afoot at Winterfell and someone wanted to sabotage his expedition beyond The Wall?

Maybe the surviving wildlings still hold a grudge against Jon from his days in the Night’s Watch?

We know nothing.

Take a look at that trailer again.
