Our TV movie pick for tonight (Thursday, 27 November) is 2 Guns, the 2013 action comedy starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg.
The film centres around DEA agent Bobby Trench (Washington) and U.S. Navy intelligence officer Marcus Stigman (Wahlberg), who have both been working undercover for a year as members of a narcotics syndicate.
The twist is that neither man knows that the other is an undercover agent.
"When their attempt to infiltrate a Mexican drug cartel and recover millions goes haywire, the men are disavowed by their superiors," the plot synopsis adds.
"As such, Trench and Stigman must go on the run lest they wind up in jail or in a grave."
Directed by Baltasar Kormákur (Contraband, Everest) and based on a comic book, 2 Guns' rather convoluted story still manages to be highly entertaining.
This is thanks to Wahlberg and Washington's chemistry, the movie's atmospheric and dusty southern US setting, its fun action set-pieces and its terrific supporting cast.
The latter includes Bill Paxton (Aliens), Edward James Olmos (Miami Vice), Fred Ward (Tremors), James Marsden (X-Men) and Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol).
2 Guns is airing on TV tonight on the channel Legend at 10.55pm. It is also available to rent on Amazon, Apple TV, Rakuten TV and the Sky Store.
