Here are the 5 best movies on the telly tonight

Rory Cashin

black sea

A very eclectic mix on the box this evening.

We’re getting ever closer to that horrible looking weather this weekend (check that out here, plan your wardrobe accordingly), and today’s weather is already a mega-mixed bag.

You could go outside and do things. But why risk it? Better off just sitting in and watching one of these instead:

WEDNESDAY 7 NOVEMBER

Top Gun – TCM – 7.25pm

DAAAAYNNJAAAA ZOOOOOOOOOONE!

Conspiracy Theory – TCM – 9.00pm

Mel Gibson is a man suffering from paranoid delusions who believes the government is keeping constant tabs on him, until one day the government (fronted by an evil Patrick Stewart) actually come to hunt him down. He must then go on the run with a justice department attorney (Julia Roberts), who he has inadvertently given too much information to.

Black Hawk Down – Syfy – 9.00pm

We went in deep on the incredible cast of this film (read all about that here), but if you don’t know, then this is a fantastic war movie, set around two army helicopters shot down by Somalian soldiers, and the U.S. soldiers attempting to escape before they are caught and killed.

Black Sea – Film Four – 11.15pm

In order to make good with his former employers, a submarine captain (Jude Law) takes a job with a shadowy backer to search the depths of the Black Sea for a submarine rumored to be loaded with gold. From the director of The Last King Of Scotland, and co-starring Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn, Michael Smiley, and Jodie Whitaker.

Senna – ITV4 – 11.15pm

Again, we’ve already gone pretty deep on this one, but it has been called the most ‘captivating, chilling, and sublime’ documentary in recent years. Well worth checking out if you’re up late.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
