Here are the 5 best movies on TV tonight

We survived another weekend, but Monday evenings can be tough if you don’t have the right distraction.

Not sure what to do this evening?

You could head to the cinema and check out one of the great new releases.

Or you could sit in and stay on the couch and watch one (or more) of these instead:

MONDAY 4 FEBRUARY

Minority Report – Sky One – 9.00pm

Maybe the best of the Spielberg and Cruise collaborations, especially thanks to the incredibly dark future it predicts using some very believable sci-fi leaps. Except for those building cars, they seem like a prediction too far.

The Wolverine – FilmFour – 9.00pm

Before they let Hugh Jackman off the leash completely in Logan, this first sequel is a much better movie than the initial Wolverine stand-alone movie, thanks to some great action set-pieces and some fantastic supporting characters.

The Hangover Part III – RTE Two – 9.30pm

Is it as good as the first one? No. Is it as bad as the second one? No. Is it still great to see all these guys together in Vegas again, causing all sorts of havoc? Absolutely.

The Kite Runner – TG4 – 9.30pm

Powerful drama based on a multi-award winning book. After spending years in California, Amir returns to his homeland in Afghanistan to help his old friend Hassan, whose son is in trouble.

The Ninth Gate – Syfy – 11.00pm

Trashy horror starring Johnny Depp as a rare books salesman who discovers something he believes was written by an actual demon, and that may open a portal to the hell.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
