It’s going to drop to ZERO DEGREES tonight. Stay in. Watch a movie.

We’re not kidding about that weather, people! ZERO. DEGREES.

Grim.

You could go to the cinema (there is a lot of good stuff to watch this week there, too), but if you don’t want to have to pack on the layers to get from here to there, then these are the best movies on your telly tonight.

WEDNESDAY 17 OCTOBER

X-Men: The Last Stand – Film Four – 6.45pm

Admittedly, a step down after the greatness of the first two X-Men movies, but in hindsight, a hugely ballsy story (no spoilers, but DAMN, they take no prisoners!), and it was great to see Famke Jannsen being put front and centre.

Fast & Furious – ITV2 – 9.00pm

The one that opens with a hugely impractical bus escape scene that should have killed everyone on board, but Vin Diesel walks away without a scratch. Because that is exactly what these movies are, and that is why we love them.

Outbreak – Syfy – 9.00pm

Dustin Hoffman and his science buddies need to help cure a killer disease that is being spread by Ross Gellar’s monkey (Friends fans will remember he was slated for a role in the sequel). Rene Russo, Morgan Freeman, Donald Sutherland, Cuba Gooding Jnr., Kevin Spacey, and McDreamy from Grey’s Anatomy fill out the impressive supporting cast.

Never Say Never Again – ITV4 – 9.00pm

Sean Connery’s seventh and final outing as Bond sees him put on leave following a flub on a mission, but then brought back in from the cold when MI6 believe he is the only one who might be able to stop an impending nuclear attack.

Dead Calm – TCM – 11.10pm

Nicole Kidman and Sam Neill are on a romantic boat trip when they happen across an almost sinking boat, with one survivor (Billy Zane). Once he wakes up, the charming stranger tells them what happened, but all is not what it seems…

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
