Did you look outside? No no. Just stay in.

There are some very fun movies to enjoy on the small screen tonight, should you not want to hit up the cinema (the new Dragon Tattoo movie is out), or if you’ve watched all there is to watch on Netflix (although there is loads more coming to the service in December).

WEDNESDAY 21 NOVEMBER

The Village – Syfy – 9.00pm

M. Night Shyamalan’s marmite movie, in which Bryce Dallas Howard plays a blind girl in a village tormented by beasts in the woods. Adrian Brody, Joaquin Phoenix, and Sigourney Weaver also star in this atmospheric thriller that has one of those endings that will either make it or break it for you.

Passenger 57 – TCM – 9.00pm

Wesley Snipes proves why you should always bet on black in this airplane-hostage action movie.

Collateral Damage – Sky One – 10.00pm

The backstory of this movie is probably more interesting than the movie itself: originally due for release on 5 October 2001, the movie involving US landmarks being attacked by terrorists was too close to home after 9/11. It also featured an early career Sofia Vergara as an airplane hijacker, which was then cut for the movie when it was eventually released in early 2002. It still has some okay Arnie action, but it is interesting to see the aftermath of a movie so heavily affected by reality.

Death Race – ITV4 – 10.00pm

Jason Statham heads up this really, truly, genuinely a lot of fun action movie, where he plays a prisoner who gets drafted into a televised series of deadly races in order to win his freedom. Future Fast & Furious co-star Tyrese Gibson co-stars as another racer, while Joan Allen has the time of her life playing a truly evil prison warden.

Lawless – Film Four – 10.55pm

Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Shia LaBeouf, Guy Pearce, Mia Wasikowska, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman and Dane DeHaan star in this tale of a group of bootlegging brothers, the women they fall in love with, and the government agent who has them all in his sights.
