Actor Walter Koenig, whose portrayal of Pavel Chekov made him a familiar face to generations of Star Trek fans, has died at the age of 90.
Koenig passed away at his North Hollywood residence on Sunday, 25 October 2026. His representative confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that his death was due to natural causes.
His association with the science-fiction franchise began in 1967, when he joined the cast for its second season as the Enterprise's young navigator.
Koenig went on to appear in 36 episodes of the original series before bringing Chekov back to the screen in several subsequent films.
Away from the Star Trek universe, he continued to work across television, taking on the role of Alfred Bester in Babylon 5 during the 1990s.
His other credits included appearances in the Western series The Virginian, the crime drama Columbo and the animated comedy Futurama.
