Walsh Sisters Disney+ deal confirmed as season two films in Dublin

The Walsh Sisters lands major Disney+ deal

The deal gives the show another platform for British viewers to discover it, following a successful debut on RTÉ.

The first season became the broadcaster's most-watched drama in two years, according to Deadline.

Adapted from Marian Keyes's novels, the series is produced for RTÉ and the BBC. International distribution company Cineflix Rights negotiated the Disney+ agreement, which will see the programme arrive on the streaming service after its BBC run concludes.

There is more to come, too. Both broadcasters have approved a second season, and filming is already taking place.

The show's reach has also grown through a series of international sales arranged by Cineflix Rights. TV2 in Norway and TV4 in Sweden have acquired the series, alongside Finland's MTV Oy.

The latest agreement adds Disney+ to the list of platforms bringing The Walsh Sisters to new audiences, as the production moves ahead with its next chapter.

With another season in the works, the adaptation of Keyes's books is continuing to build on the attention generated by its first run.
