Here are the 6 best movies on the telly tonight

Rory Cashin

Monday night is Action Movie Night on the TV, apparently.

Have a fun weekend? Great, happy to hear it!

Maybe you need a little down time? Catch a movie? Well, there’s some great stuff out in the cinema right now, and we’ve reviewed all of the new cinema releases right here:

However, Monday night TV is giving a lot of bang for your buck, and this is what you have to choose from:

MONDAY 15 OCTOBER

Sister Act – Film Four – 6.55pm

Whoopi Goldberg is the singer on the run from her mobster boyfriend, who is put into hiding at a local church, described as a nun. It is funnier than that description makes it sound.

The Rock – Universal TV – 9.00pm

A little while back, we put The Rock V Con Air to decide once and for all which was the better movie. You can read all about it here, and while both of those movies are great, only one of them is on tonight.

Hell Or High Water – Film Four – 9.00pm

Chris Pine, Ben Foster, and Jeff Bridges star in this modern western about a pair of brothers who want to do one last bank robbery before retiring from the life of crime, and the local law enforcer who wants to catch them before they disappear forever. A brilliant, BRILLIANT movie.

The Hangover – TCM – 9.00pm

“It’s not a purse. It’s a satchel. Indiana Jones has one.”

The Way Of The Gun – TG4 – 9.30pm

Ryan Phillippe and Benicio Del Toro star in this extremely underrated crime caper, telling the story of two kidnappers who take a surrogate pregnant woman hostage for a large amount of money. But they have no idea just how dangerous the soon-to-be-father actually is.

Total Recall – ITV4 – 10.00pm

Not the Colin Farrell remake, but the Arnie and Sharon Stone original. One of the great sci-fi action movies, with a mega boo-hiss villain, and that mutant lady with more breasts than most women tend to have…

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
