A very decent mix on tonight.

Oh no. No no. No thank you. That weather? Nope.

Maybe a good cinema night is on the cards? We review all of the new releases right here, if you’re interested.

Otherwise, sit in and enjoy one of these instead.

MONDAY 4 NOVEMBER

Batman Begins – Sky One – 9pm

The first of Christopher Nolan’s trilogy feels like the odd-one-out in hindsight, all dirty streets and mass hallucinations. But there is no arguing that Cillian Murphy’s Scarecrow is a pitch-perfect version of the character, and there are some great action scenes to be found throughout.

Blades Of Glory – Film4 – 9pm

Will Ferrell and the guy from Napoleon Dynamite are arch-enemies in the world of competitive figure-skating, but forced to work together thanks to a loop-hole that will allow them to compete in couples figure-skating together. A killer supporting cast – Will Arnett, Amy Poehler, Jenna Fischer, Craig T. Nelson, Rob Corddry – help land the madcap comedy.

Argo – TG4 – 9.30pm

Ben Affleck’s Oscar-winning drama, based on the true story of a fake film crew sent in to Iran to rescue American hostages. Another amazing supporting cast includes Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Alan Arkin, Clea DuVall, Scoot McNairy, Kyle Chandler, and loads more.

Conan The Destroyer – ITV4 – 10.30pm

The bonkers sequel to the “Wait, is this about… fascism?” original drops all political angles and makes it about Arnie chasing monsters, which is a lot more fun. It also has Grace Jones going what can only be described as Full Grace Jones, which 100% needs to be seen to be believed.

Stranger Than Fiction – TCM – 11.50pm

Another Will Ferrell movie, but this one skews closer to dramedy than outright comedy, as Will finds he is the central character of a book being written by author Emma Thompson, and that his future might be completely already written when she decides the book needs a sad ending…

20 Feet From Stardom – Film4 – 12.55am

Fantastic documentary about the back-up singers to everyone from David Bowie to Kylie Minogue to Bruce Springsteen, and how being that close to the limelight can affect your life so profoundly.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
