Piers Morgan was very impressed, but reviews for 6 Days have been mixed besides.
In April 1980, the Iranian Embassy in London was stormed by six armed gunmen, who took 26 people hostage.
The gunmen demanded the release of Arab prisoners in the Iranian province of Khuzestan, but when it became clear that this wasn’t an option for the British government, the hostages were held in the embassy over the course of six days.
On the sixth day, with little progress having been made in negotiations, one of the hostages was killed, prompting the government to send in the SAS on a rescue mission to recover the hostages.
That mission is the subject of 6 Days, a new movie starring Jamie Bell, Mark Strong and Abbie Cornish which explores the siege from the perspectives of the government, the hostages, media covering the events and those involved in the SAS mission, which captured the world’s attention at the time.
While Piers Morgan gave it his seal of approval on Twitter, reviews of the movie have otherwise been mixed, with a 65% critics rating and a 40% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes to date.
