Foo Fighters to tour Europe next summer

Fingers crossed for an Irish date.

This is a call to any Foo Fighters fans out there, Dave Grohl and company are to tour Europe next summer to mark their 25th anniversary.

Granted, it has only been a few months since the Foos last played these shores – the setlist during the band’s summer gig in the RDS was a treat for some of the band’s older fans – but with three gigs in Europe already announced, it appears that Taylor Hawkins is a man of his word.

A few weeks ago, the drummer was asked about the prospect of a new Foo Fighters album.

Hawkins said: “Well, it’s very possible. There’s a lot of talk and I think Dave is already mapping out what he wants the next record to be, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s something coming down the pipe.

“I can’t 100% spell it out for you for sure, because I’m always the last to know and I don’t want to give it away. But I would imagine there will be something made of the 25th year of the Foo Fighters, for sure. You know us, we never stop.”

Thankfully, these plans include what the band do best – playing to a live audience.

The Foos have recently announced headline slots at Rock in Rio Lisboa (Portugal) and dates at Austria’s Nova Rock and I-Day’s in Milan.

Full details of those gigs can be found below, but we’re quietly optimistic of an Irish date as well.

After all, since the start of 2010, Dave Grohl has stood in front of Irish audiences five times. We’d be confident of a sixth performance by the end of the next year.
