Four of our picks kick off at 9pm. A real Sophie’s Choice (Sophie’s Choice is not one of the options).

Monday, Monday, Monday… what are we going to do with you?

Making us all go back to work or college or school or whatever, with your not-great weather, and all signs of more weekend fun now completely back over the horizon.

Thankfully, TV has served us up some decent cinematic choices to help the evening go by easy enough.

MONDAY 23 SEPTEMBER

The Birds – TCM – 9pm

Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic horror which finds a small town under siege by hundreds of thousands of birds who have all gone homicidal for no discernible reason. Sounds like it shouldn’t be THAT scary, but it totally is.

We’re The Millers – Sky One – 9pm

Jason Sudekis and Jennifer Aniston pretend to be the loving parents of Emma Roberts and Will Poulter, in order to cross the Mexican border to smuggle some drugs across. Good fun if you can deal with the grossness of it all.

True Lies – Film4 – 9pm

Arnie is a secret spy, much to the confusion of his wife Jamie Lee Curtis, who believes she has been accidentally caught up in an international espionage plot involving terrorists and nuclear bombs. Hugely entertaining action-comedy that really should’ve got a sequel.

I Love You, Man – Comedy Central Extra – 9pm

When JOE spoke to Lou Ferrigno earlier this year, he said that Paul Rudd was totally on board for a sequel to this hit comedy, and that is definitely something we want to see!

Tigerland – TG4 – 9.30pm

This was pretty much Colin Farrell’s big Hollywood breakthrough role, playing a man about to be sent to the Vietnam war and galvanising the other men in his platoon with his defiance.

Jaws 2 – ITV2 – 10pm

It’s a different film. It’s a very different film. It’s a different shark.

The Wicker Man – Film4 – 11.50pm

Another iconic horror movie to enjoy on your Monday, as a policeman arrives on an isolated island to investigate a missing child, only to discover that the islanders may have been anticipating his arrival…

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
