8 great new additions to Amazon Prime Video this month

Rory Cashin

Lots of new additions to enjoy over the next four weeks or so!

We are going to be spoiled – SPOILED! – throughout September, between the new additions to Netflix and the new arrivals on Disney+, but we’re here to talk about the brand new (and some old) additions to Prime Video throughout the month.

Here are all of the shows and movies that caught our attention from the line-up…

Cinderella

At the moment, this is probably the movie best known for stopping traffic in Los Angeles, thanks to James Corden in a rat suit. But the rest of the all-star cast (Camilla Cabello, Idina Menzel, Minnie Driver, Billy Porter and Pierce Brosnan) help to give this new re-telling a more musical slant.

Cinderella will be arriving on Friday, 3 September

12 Years A Slave

Winner of three Academy Awards including Best Picture, this riveting, powerful drama follows the story of Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejifor), a man who was kidnapped and sold into slavery. The incredible supporting cast includes Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Dano, Paul Giamatti, Lupita Nyong’o, Sarah Paulson, Brad Pitt and Alfre Woodard.

12 Years A Slave will be arriving on Friday, 3 September.

LuLaRich

A four-part docu-series about a company that sold extravagant leggings might not sound like the most interesting premise, but this story was enough to get the attention of the folk behind the Fyre Fraud documentary, so you know there is something up.

Yep, it turns out what everyone perceived to be a legitimate business was essentially a very complicated pyramid scheme…

LuLaRich will be arriving on Friday, 10 September.

Straight Outta Compton

Arguably one of the best (and most underappreciated) music biopics of all time, the film gives a dramatised look into the rise and fall of legendary rap group NWA, including the still iconic stars like Dr. Dre and Ice Cube.

Straight Outta Compton will be arriving on Saturday, 11 September.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie

Based both on true events and the hit theatre production, the story of Jamie (Max Harwood) and his secret dreams of performing on stage and becoming a world famous drag queen will likely have us all laughing, crying, singing and dancing. Sharon Horgan and Richard E. Grant co-star.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie will be arriving on Friday, 17 September.

Everest

Another amazing all-star cast (Jason Clarke, Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley, Martin Henderson and Emily Watson) feature in this true-life adventure drama based on the 1996 Mount Everest disaster which ended with 15 people dying during one ascent.

Everest will be arriving on Saturday, 18 September.

Goliath – Season 4

The fourth and final season of Billy Bob Thornton’s much-loved show sees him setting up shop in San Francisco with the goal of taking down the huge opioid industry, which is directly tied to Billy’s own chronic pain issues. J.K Simmons, Jena Malone and Bruce Dern co-star.

The fourth season of Goliath will be available from Friday, 24 September.

Selma

This Oscar-winning historical drama is based on the 1965 voting marches from Selma to Montgomery, fronted by Martin Luther King Jr. (David Oyelowo), in the face of local unrest, as well as authorities and a government unsure that they can guarantee anyone’s protection.

Selma will be arriving on Wednesday, 29 September.
