Actor Luke Perry has died at the age of 52.

Perry had been hospitalised last week after suffering a stroke on Wednesday morning. On Monday (4 March), reports emerged that Perry had not recovered from his condition.

“The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time,” his publicist said in a statement, according to Buzzfeed.

The actor, who was just 52 at the time of his passing, was most famous for his role as Dylan McKay in the 90s TV show Beverly Hills 90210. More recently, Perry had starred in popular teen drama Riverdale as Fred Matthews, father of the main character, Archie.

Fans of The Simpsons will also remember Perry’s hilarious cameo as Krusty the Clown’s half-brother, who took part in Krusty’s farewell special.
