Prime Video has just added 35 big movies to its library

Rory Cashin

Prime Video

For any Prime Video users, you’ve got a lot of new options to choose from…

If you’re an Amazon Prime Video subscriber, then you’re spoiled today.

Not only did they just add a must-watch new thriller series from the director of Line Of Duty, but they’ve also added 35 big movies to the Prime Video streaming library.

Starting with:

127 HOURS

James Franco gets stuck under a big rock for a bit over five days. Based on a true story. (The stuck under the rock bit, not the James Franco bit.)

ALI

The movie that Will Smith probably should have won the Oscar for.

BURLESQUE

Cher and Christina Aguilera star in one of the campest movies of recent years. Dumb, but fun.

CHICKEN RUN

The sequel has finally been confirmed. Whether or not Mel Gibson will return to voice the lead rooster remains to be seen.

DAYBREAKERS

Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill star in this decent sci-fi thriller where a plague has turned the majority of humanity into vampires.

END OF WATCH

A gritty cop thriller, with Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena as partners who become the target of a dangerous drug lord.

FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS

Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant headline this biopic comedy drama about what might well be the most famously bad singer in recorded history.

GANGS OF NEW YORK

Martin Scorsese’s period epic recently turned 20 years old. Daniel Day Lewis, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz and Liam Neeson star.

THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER’S WEB

Claire Foy replaces Rooney Mara in this sorta-sequel to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Except it isn’t even half as good.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU, LEO GRANDE

A Prime Video exclusive and one of 2022’s best hidden gem comedies.

GREMLINS / GREMLINS 2

The first one is one of the best mixtures of horror and comedy ever. The sequel is a great takedown on the whole idea of sequels.

HITCH

Will Smith and Eva Mendes generate real chemistry in this likeable rom-com.

I, ROBOT

Will Smith again, in a fun-but-dumb sci-fi action thriller.

IN THE LOOP

The creators of VEEP and The Thick Of It deliver one of the funniest comedies of the 21st century.

LA LA LAND

The director’s new movie Babylon is about to land in cinemas, so before then, why not check out this much-loved musical romance with Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

LARRY CROWNE

Tom Hanks leaves his job, goes back to school, and develops a crush on his teacher, who happens to be Julia Roberts. It… isn’t great, to be honest.

A LONG WAY DOWN

When a group of strangers (including Pierce Brosnan, Toni Collette, Aaron Paul and Imogen Poots) all planning to commit suicide happen to meet on the same rooftop, they make a pact to wait a few weeks to help find reasons for each other to live.

MECHANIC: RESURRECTION

Jason Statham is hired to make a group of assassinations look like accidents. Enjoyable fluff.

MIDWAY

The director of Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow tackles one of the biggest battles of WWII. Results are mediocre.

MILLIONS

A cute drama about a young boy who discovers a huge bag filled with cash and tries to spend it altruistically.

MY BEST FRIEND’S GIRL

Jason Biggs (remember him?) is thrown for a loop when his best friend Dane Cook (remember him??) falls in love with Kate Hudson (still great), the woman that Biggs was in love with! A very bad rom-com.

PASSENGERS

An odd sci-fi drama thriller about two people (Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence) who accidentally wake up early on a decades-long journey across space.

THE QUIET

A young woman (Camille Belle) is unable to hear or speak, and during a visit to her extended family, discovers a horrifying secret involving her cousin (Elisha Cuthbert).

RIDDICK

The third (and worst) of Vin Diesel’s space opera.

ROOM

Brie Larson won the Oscar for her performance in this drama about a woman and her young son who have just been freed from years of captivity. A good movie, but a tough watch.

SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD

Steve Carrell and Keira Knightley are two strangers who embark on a road trip together in the final days of humanity, as a huge meteor is about to smash into the planet. This is a comedy, by the way.

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE

Danny Boyle’s Oscar-magnet. If you’ve never seen it, it is probably worth a watch. If you have seen it, you probably aren’t in a rush to rewatch it.

SOURCE CODE

A mind-bending sci-fi thriller about a regular man (Jake Gyllenhaal) attempting to stop a bombing on a train.

SURVIVOR

Pierce Brosnan and Milla Jovovich star in this action thriller with a score of 8% on Rotten Tomatoes. Yikes.

THIS IS THE END

When the Rapture arrives, a group of spoiled Hollywood megastars find themselves left behind. In hindsight, this feels like a movie that would’ve been made during the pandemic.

TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY

One of the greatest spy movies of all time, with a killer cast including Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong and Colin Firth.

WHITE HOUSE DOWN

Die Hard-in-the-White House, with Channing Tatum and President Jamie Foxx.

WILDCAT

A brand-new, Prime Video-exclusive powerful documentary about a man returning home from war, suffering from PTSD, and finding himself in the jungle living amongst the nature.

THE WRESTLER

Mickey Rourke probably should’ve won the Oscar for his role in this powerful drama about a performing wrestler close to the end of his career.
