Animaniacs

It’s time for…

If you grew up during the 1990s and had access to a television, then in all probability, the brilliant cartoon Animaniacs had a significant influence on your childhood.

A Warner Brothers production with Steven Spielberg on board as executive producer, the show consisted of a series of brilliant skits, introducing the world to characters such as The Goodfeathers, Chicken Boo, Pinky and the Brain and of, course, Yakko, Wakko, and Dot.

As well as being great to watch for the kids, it was full of subtle adult jokes and innuendo that made it appealing to older viewers; in fact, when you see some of the more risqué material now, you wonder how innocent we all must have been to have been completely oblivious to it in the first place.

The show’s many fans will be glad to know that, according to IndieWire, it’s on the way back, with a reboot apparently being developed by Steven Spielberg, Amblin TV and Warner Bros. on the back of a new lease of life for the original since it aired on Netflix last year.

Details about a potential reboot are thin on the ground at this stage and, according to insiders mentioned in the Indiewire report, it’s still in the early stages of development.

Still, the mere suggestion that it could be on the way back is bound to create excitement amongst the show’s legions of fans; chalk this down as a most definite good idea…
