Anthony Mackie can not to be trusted when it comes to Marvel rumours

Rory Cashin

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star apparently loves to misinform fans on theories about the new show.

If you watched WandaVision, and kept up with the news surrounding it, then you know that show purposefully sent fans and viewers down rabbit holes which ended up, well, nowhere.

In the middle of that was Vision himself, Paul Bettany, who was absolutely brilliant at stirring up the rumour mill, sending fans into a theorising frenzy.

And so it goes, as with anything and everything to do with Marvel, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has viewers going through practically frame by frame in order to glean as much information as possible.

On the second episode of TBR Spotlight: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier [LISTEN from 32.58 below], Rory and Eoghan break down their TWO big theories on the latest episode of the show:

We recently caught up with the show’s head writer Malcolm Spellman, and discussed how difficult it must be to keep plot points from the series.

“There are a couple of [plot points] that are very hard, because you just want to blurt it out!” Spellman tells us. “Especially when people think you’ve must something, and you’re like ‘No, it is coming up! It is literally being set up in an episode!’ And that’s because they’re used to watching Marvel movies.”

And what about the theories and rumours he’s heard so far from fans, have any been close to hitting the target?

“I don’t think it has been quite as intense as WandaVision, because that was a mystery and a puzzle. People really stated to go deep with it. Also, I literally just found out that Marvel has been planting way more seeds than I knew about.

“People have been sending me screengrabs of the end credits, and I was like ‘Oh man, I didn’t even catch that!'”

You can find out more about the stuff hidden in the end credits right here.

And finally, considering how much fun Paul Bettany had with trolling the fans, was he ever tempted to do something similar, and actively send viewers down the wrong path?

“Y’know, we wanted to, but it is a skill set, you know what I’m saying? So I try and tread pretty lightly. And I’m not an actor, so I think it is easier to just hide. I have a day like this, but otherwise, I think people would want to hear – Anthony [Mackie] does it well, though.”

Oh right, so we’ll just have to not trust anything Anthony has to say about the show?

“Yeah, that’s right, because Anthony is gonna lie to you! [laughs]”
