Accessible through the TG4 Player, the movie follows three unlikely thieves, led by a woman on the verge of a breakdown, who rob a rural Irish Credit Union. Opening in the tragic aftermath of the heist-gone-wrong, the story unfolds backwards, chapter by chapter, to unravel the events that led to this point.
"What starts as a poorly executed robbery becomes a portrait of a wilful woman trapped in her own past," the plot synopsis adds.
McCann penned the film's screenplay, alongside Sarah Gordon. The pair will also be working on the second season of TG4's hit mystery show, Crá.
The movie has been highly acclaimed, picking up six nominations at this year's IFTA Awards, including Best Film.
Just this week, it was announced that Aontas has also been selected to represent Ireland in the International Feature Film category at next year's Oscars.
Each country can enter just one film to represent their country in the category.

Directed by Damian McCann (the very good 2021 Irish thriller Doineann), Aontas stars Carrie Crowley (An Cailín Ciúin, The Walsh Sisters), Bríd Brennan (Anne Devlin, Dancing at Lughnasa), and Eva-Jane Gaffney (Harry Wild, Kin).

This means the thriller will follow in the footsteps of the Oscar-nominated An Cailín Ciúin (2023) and the Oscar-shortlisted Kneecap (2024) and compete with other non-English language movies from around the world at the 2027 Academy Awards.
