Directed by a duo who worked on hit crime drama Kin, the film has a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Our TV movie pick for tonight (Saturday, 23 November) is Rose Plays Julie, the excellent 2019 Irish thriller drama.
Written and directed by Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor (Baltimore, Kin), the film centres on a university student named Rose (Ann Skelly, The Nevers) who was adopted as a young child and is now seeking out her biological parents.
However, after tracking down her birth mother (Orla Brady, Star Trek: Picard), Rose discovers disturbing information relating to her biological father (Aidan Gillen, Kin).
Holding an impressive 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes – Rose Plays Julie’s darkly compelling story, incredible performances and dread-inducing atmosphere should be seen by a wider audience.
The movie is airing on TV tonight on RTÉ2 at 11.05pm. It is also currently streaming on Prime Video.
And if you want to follow it up with another great Irish thriller, we just recommended one now on Netflix.
