There’s also news about an alternate version of some episodes.

New episodes of Arrested Development are arriving on Netflix on May 4 but for fans of the show, it’s not going to be Season 5.

Series creator Mitch Hurwitz announced via the show’s official Twitter page that the fourth season will be re-released and “remixed” as a more traditional 22 episode season with its storylines interwoven and each episode, therefore, featuring A, B, and C plots.

“The original season four of ‘Arrested Development’ on Netflix, as some of you know, experimented with a Rashomon-style of storytelling — with each episode dedicated to the adventure of one member of the Bluth family. The goal was that by the end of the season a unified story of cause and effect would emerge for the viewer — full of surprises about how the Bluths were responsible for most of the misery they had endured.”

Truth be told, when compared to the incredibly high standards that Seasons 1-3 set, the most recent one just didn’t hold up.

However, between that season’s release and the upcoming fifth season, Hurwitz has since re-edited the story and the new version, entitled “Arrested Development Season 4 Remix: Fateful Consequences” will be released this Friday.

Hurwitz also shared that the fifth season is still scheduled to hit Netflix “soon.”

In the immortal words of Tobias Funke, “I’m afraid I just blue myself.”
