The first reactions to Avatar The Way Of Water have got us VERY excited

Rory Cashin

“This is movie making and story telling at its absolute finest.”

We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: never bet against James Cameron, and never bet against Avatar: The Way of Water.

Yes, 13 years is a long time to wait for a sequel, but this is the writer/director who delivered sequels to Alien and The Terminator, and smashed it out of the park each time!

The world premiere of the Avatar sequel took place in London on Tuesday night, while simultaneous screenings took place around the world for a select few lucky critics, and if you take to Twitter right now, you’ll have to dig pretty deep to find anything less than an absolutely gushing review.

Avatar: The Way of Water has apparently also left everyone hungry for the impending third movie, due to arrive in cinemas in December 2024, with two more scheduled to debut in December 2026 and December 2028.

The original Avatar remains the number one box office hit of all time, with $2.922 billion worldwide, and Cameron himself has said that the sequel had such a high production cost that it will need to be one of the five biggest box office hits of all time just to break even.

Well, if these early reviews are anything to go by, he has nothing to worry about.

Avatar: The Way Of Water arrives in Irish and UK cinemas on Friday, 16 December, and you can check out the early reactions to the movie right here:
