It was inevitable.

During the weekend, we shared the news that Avengers: Endgame was making a lot of money. A LOT of money.

Before we go any further, just know that we will keep this piece completely spoiler-free in case you haven’t seen it yet, although based on the box office stats, you probably have.

Here are just some of the box office records that Endgame has crushed since its release:

  • It has Ireland’s biggest opening weekend ever, making a total of €4.46 million.
  • It’s now the highest grossing opening day of all time at the Irish box office.
  • The UK and Ireland’s biggest opening weekend ever with £43.4 million.
  • It made global box office history, becoming the first film to surpass $1 billion in its debut weekend, taking in a whopping $1.2 billion worldwide.

Long story short, the movie is making an obscene amount of money.

As you’re probably aware, Avengers: Endgame follows the team of Avengers as they attempt to undo the damage done by the big bad Thanos in Infinity War, closing off a saga in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that has lasted over 10 years.

Coming in at a little over three hours in length, the movie is the definition of a blockbuster, and has a star-studded cast, which goes a long way in explaining why it’s such a hit.
