The new Avengers: Endgame trailer might be tricking us all with this one tiny detail

And no, we’re not talking about Hawkeye’s new hairdo.

Ready for a bit of a deep dive into an absolute guessing game?

Okay, here we go.

Cast your mind back to the trailer for Avengers: Infinity War. It was epic, action-packed, and featured this final shot of the assembled Avengers heading into the battle to end all battles:

Then we all went to see Infinity War, and one of the major plot-points through the movie was that after the opening scene where he had his ass handed to him by Thanos, some performance anxiety meant that Bruce Banner couldn’t get the Big Green Guy to reappear.

So instead he took up the fight inside of the Hulkbuster Iron Man suit.

So the above image from the trailer was a lie. A LIE!

Which leads us to the newly released (and potentially final) trailer for Avengers: Endgame.

Previously, Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige stated that all of the promotional material for the movie would only feature footage from the first 20 minutes of the movie.

This latest trailer kicks off with Tony Stark pretty much lost-in-space, with he and Nebula teaming up to try to get back to Earth as their food and water supplies continue to dwindle.

However, one of the final shots of the movie shows both Stark and Nebula walking with the Avengers team in their new suits (which everyone is guessing will allow them access to the Quantum Realm, i.e. time travel is on the cards).

However, looking at the footage in the trailer, it does look like both Tony and Nebula heads may have been digitally inserted to replace… well, somebody else?

Is that enough evidence? Well, not by itself, no.

But we doubt Tony and Nebula made it all the way back to Earth within the first 20 minutes of Endgame.

And if you look at Jim Rhodes in the same series of shots, he has the new Quantum Suit on over his War Machine suit, but Tony (“Tony”?) doesn’t have his on over his Iron Man suit…

So who might Tony and Nebula be digitally replacing here?

We know that both Thor and Captain Marvel are about, but neither of them feature here, although we imagine with their combined might, they’re probably off elsewhere, tackling Thanos head-on.

We also know that Black Panther’s lead warrior Okoye will feature heavily (she gets face time on the poster and the trailer), plus there is no sign of Bruce Banner in this final series of shots, either. So we’re guessing that who is actually heading into the time-travelling fray, while Tony and Nebula are still figuring out a way to get back home.

Either that, or we’re completely off and just need to learn how to trust Marvel trailers again…

We’ll know for sure when Avengers: Endgame reaches Irish cinemas on Thursday 25 April.
