BBC confirms it is open to another series of Line of Duty

A potential seventh season has been teased by the BBC.

After what is being almost universally accepted as an underwhelming season six finale, Line of Duty fans (if you’re still invested) could be in for a seventh season, after comments from a BBC official.

Charlotte Moore, the broadcaster’s Chief Content Officer, said in a statement that she is “looking forward to having a conversation with the team about where we go next and what the future of the series might be.”

In the full statement, she had this to say on the series’ creator: “Jed Mercurio is a master of his craft, and I would like to congratulate him and the entire cast and crew for delivering such an incredible drama series.”

She hailed the show as “Addictive event television, [which] has kept the nation guessing for the last seven weeks”, adding that “it’s no surprise that last night’s jaw-dropping finale set a ratings record”.

If you watched the finale, you’ll know that there is plenty of potential for a season seven. The question is: would you want one?
