BBC’s new alt-history drama that’s set in a Nazi-occupied London looks remarkable

When it comes to commissioning new shows, the BBC has enjoyed a remarkable run of success over the last few years. Sherlock, Luther, Doctor Who, Peaky Blinders and The Night Manager are just some of the most notable titles, and it appears that the BBC are onto another winner with SS-GB. The five-part series is an adaptation of  Len Deighton's novel which depicts an alternative-history where the Nazi's won World War II. If you're an Amazon Prime subscriber then you'll understand the comparisons that SS-GB has already been getting with The Man In The High Castle. If it's half as good as that, we're all in for a treat. So, what's it all about? The show revolves around a detective named Douglas Archer (Sam Riley from Control) who has to tread a careful line between the Gestapo and Scotland Yard. If you need another reason to tune in then you'll be pleased to know that Robert Wade and Neal Purvis are the creative team behind this adaptation. Fans of James Bond will know that both of these men are responsible for writing  Casino Royale, Skyfall, Spectre and more. SS-GB begins on BBC1 on Sunday (19 Feb) at 9pm.
