#TRAILERCHEST: Cate Blanchett’s new movie sounds like a horror, but is apparently… a comedy?

“It is my favourite thing, to die of cuteness.”

Welcome to #TrailerChest, where we’re taking a sneak peek at the brand new trailer for Where’d You Go, Bernadette?

Plot’s it all about?

We’re going to do things a little differently with this #TrailerChest, and just give you the plot synopsis:

“After her anxiety-ridden mother disappears, 15-year-old Bee does everything she can to track her down, discovering her troubled past in the process.”

Sounds like a thriller, right? A missing person mystery thriller, yes? Well, check out this trailer:

Enjoy!

That appears to be a comedy, no?

What kind of film is this??

We’re automatically interested, because Blanchett is a legend, the supporting cast is amazing, and writer/director Richard Linklater is the genius behind the likes of Boyhood and the Before Sunrise trilogy.

We’re just completely thrown by the actual trailer itself. Because if it is a comedy, it doesn’t even look that funny. And did you pick up at all that Bernadette suffers from a fear of open spaces? Because she does. And you wouldn’t know that from the trailer.

Seriously, what is going on with this film?!?!

Starring: Cate Blanchett, Judy Greer, Kristen Wiig, Laurence Fishburne, Billy Crudup

Directed by: Richard Linklater

Irish release date: TBA, but the US release date is 22 March 2019
