A legendary thriller movie is airing on TV tonight

With a near-perfect 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the Oscar-winning film is also available on streaming.

The story centres around three very different types of policemen: Ed Exley (Guy Pearce), whose strong desire for and belief in justice clashes with his political aspirations; Bud White (Russell Crowe), a bruiser often deployed to inflict police brutality who wants to do good; and Jack Vincennes (Kevin Spacey), who longs to be famous and uses his position sometimes amorally to achieve this.

The three become entangled in an investigation that involves a dead former colleague, a missing bag of heroin, a tabloid journalist (Danny DeVito), and a clandestine business supplying sex workers surgically altered to resemble film stars.

Co-starring David Strathairn, James Cromwell, Kim Basinger, and Simon Baker, L.A. Confidential's exciting, sprawling, twist-filled story captures both the glamour of 1950s LA and its seedy underbelly.
