Here are the best films on TV tonight

Paul Moore

Training Day

Here’s what’s on the box tonight.

In the immortal words of Homer Simpson “TGIF boys, I’m off to Moe’s.” Well, the same thinking applies to movies. You know, if Moe’s was your living room and films were pints.

What’s the point of this? Oh yeah, it’s Friday.

On that note, here’s what’s on TV tonight.

Cabin Fever – 9pm on Horror Channel

Almost 18 years later, Eli Roth’s debut is still as visceral as they get as a group of college graduates who rent a cabin in the woods and begin to fall victim to a flesh-eating virus. That scene with the razor. Christ!

US Marshals – 9pm on TCM

The sequel to The Fugitive that everyone seems to have forgotten about.

Rocky III – 9.30pm on RTÉ2

The one with Mr. T as Clubber Lang.

Twelve Monkeys – 11.30pm on SyFy

Really underrated sci-fi with Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis. In a future world devastated by disease, a convict is sent back in time to gather information about the man-made virus that wiped out most of the human population on the planet.

Training Day – 11.40 on TCM

“King Kong ain’t go shit on me!” Denzel Washington on Oscar-winning form.

Postcards from the Edge – 11.50pm on RTÉ1

Carrie Fisher wrote the novel and screenplay for this one which sees a substance-addicted actress tries to look on the bright side even as she is forced to move back in with her mother to avoid unemployment.

Meryl Streep, Shirley MacLaine, Dennis Quaid, Gene Hackman, Richard Dreyfuss, and Rob Reiner all star. You can’t go wrong with that cast.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
