We’ve picked the very best movies to watch on TV on Christmas Day

xmas day movies

We’ve planned it just right, so from early morning to late at night, you’ll always have a great movie to watch.

Christmas Day is pretty much the best day for watching movies on the telly, but it can also be a bit confusing and overwhelming to know what to watch, and when!

Your pals at JOE have helped sort all of that out for you, with breaks for food and everything!

TUESDAY 25 DECEMBER

Enchanted – RTE One – 8.20am

Kick off your day with one of Disney’s best live-action movies ever, with some of the catchiest songs they’ve ever come up with. Amy Adams is amazing as the always chirpy Princess dragged into the real world.

Finding Nemo – RTE Two – 10.25am

Baby Fish gets taken by fisherman, and Daddy Fish goes to rescue him, with the help of Forgetful Fish. It is one of Pixar’s best, and consider nearly all of Pixar’s movies are incredible, we don’t say that lightly.

CHRISTMAS DINNER BREAK!

This is where you eat you dinner. Enjoy!

The Jungle Book – BBC One – 3.10pm

The live-action adaptation of the classic Disney tale has an all-star cast as the animals who either want to help the man-cub get back to his tribe, or devour him whole.

Elf – ITV 2 – 5.40pm

Buddy The Elf, what’s your favourite colour?

The Greatest Showman – Sky One – 6.45pm

Yep, less than a year since it was released in cinemas, it is being shown on the telly. Merry Christmas!

Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens – RTE One – 6.50pm

Yes, it is shown at pretty much the exact same time as The Greatest Showman, but we figure not everyone will be in the mood for a musical at this point. So you can head out into space instead. Problem solved.

Skyfall – RTE Two – 7.45pm

One of two options starting at the exact same time tonight, this is arguably the best Bond of them all, with Daniel Craig going up against Javier Bardem’s creepy techno-terrorist. Also has Adele on theme song duties.

Jurassic World – ITV2 – 7.45pm

Option two will have you enjoying Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard running away from genetically modified dinosaurs for two hours. Really good fun if you can turn your brain off for a bit.

The Devil Wears Prada – E4 – 9.15pm

“I’m sorry, do you have some prior commitment? Some hideous skirt convention you have to go to?” Savage.

Deadpool – RTE Two – 11.00pm

The Merc-with-a-Mouth is fantastically adult fun in a world of bloodless finger-snaps (not that we’ve got anything against that). Ryan Reynolds is clearly having a ball, and he’s having fun, then so are we.

Silence Of The Lambs – ITV4 – 11.20pm

Or, if you wanted to end your Christmas Day on a completely different note, why not try one of the greatest scary movies ever made? One of the few horrors to win Best Actor, Actress, Screenplay, Director, and Movie at the Oscars.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
