Movies on TV

Happy Monday to all.

Phase two is here, the sun is shining and there are increasing reasons to be optimistic. Maybe you were out queueing at IKEA today, or taking advantage of the rules some other way.

Either way, you’re probably tired ready to relax with some movies on TV. Here’s the best of what’s on.

Insidious – Horror Channel – 9pm

Too scary to be on at 9pm. Haunted house movie where the ghosts and monsters follow the family even after they leave the house.

Before Midnight – TG4 – 9.30pm

The third film in Richard Linklater’s Before trilogy, which follows romantic partners Jesse and Céline. A reflective romantic drama that might make you cry, starring Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy. Was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the Oscars.

Role Models – Sky One – 9pm

A very dumb comedy that sees Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott mentoring McLovin from Superbad (Christopher Mintz-Plasse).

Jarhead – Sky Atlantic – 11.15pm

War drama set during the first Gulf War in 1991, starring Jake Gyllenhaal as a fresh-faced young soldier who is sent into battle in the sweltering climate of Iraq. Not easy watching, but a very good film.

Hannibal – Channel 5 – 10.55pm

Anthony Hopkins reprises one of his most famous roles as Dr. Hannibal Lecter – the genius cannibal. This time, one of his victims is out for revenge. Also starring Gary Oldman, Ray Liotta and Julieanne Moore.

Death Wish V: The Face of Death – ITV4 – Midnight

As Charles Bronson once said (on The Simpsons, not in real life): “I wish I was dead, oy.”

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
