Movies on TV

A wet Thursday.

The weekend is fast approaching, thankfully, but the weather isn’t looking too good. With that in mind you could probably be tempted to watch some movies on TV tonight. Here’s what’s on.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Film4 – 6.55pm

This is the CGI one with the huge, hulking, monstrous heroes in a half shell. Turtle power.

The ‘Burbs – Sky Comedy – 9pm

A black comedy from back when Tom Hanks was more of a funny guy than the most respected movie actor in the world. Involves secretive neighbours and conspiracy theories, and co-stars Bruce Dern and Carrie Fisher.

Hanna – Sky Atlantic – 10pm

Saoirse Ronan plays a girl raised to be the world’s deadliest assassin in the wilderness of Finland. Not as Oscar-worthy as some of her other films but still a decent thriller. Also stars Cate Blanchett.

Bullitt – ITV4 – 10pm

Steve McQueen plays a cop called Lieutenant Bullitt, and the movie is about that subtle the whole way through, featuring gunfights and car chases. However, it’s still one of the coolest films ever, and probably the best film on tonight.

The Babadook – SyFy – 10pm

Critically beloved Australian horror movie about a monster that follows and family around and ruins their lives. Very metaphor-heavy, but satisfyingly scary.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
