Movies On TV

It’s Sunday.

Tomorrow is 29 June, which will forever be remembered as the beginning of Phase 3. Many pubs, restaurants, gyms and various other amenities will reopen at last. We never thought we’d make it this far, but here we are.

But for now, movies on TV remain foremost among the things to do in the evening. And here’s what’s on tonight.

Planet of the Apes – ITV4 – 8pm

The remake, directed by Tim Burton, starring Mark Wahlberg as the guy who has to taken on the apes on their own turf. Not quite the classic that the original (or Troy McClure musical) was, but a fine twist if you’ve never seen it before.

The Mountain Between Us – Channel 4 – 9pm

A plane crash film that sees Kate Winslet and Idris Elba try to survive the wilderness, as well as their budding attraction to one another.

Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind – Sky Documentaries – 9pm

An intimate documentary detailing the life and career of beloved actor and comedian Robin Williams, who died in 2014. Includes never-before-seen interviews and footage.

About A Boy – Comedy Central – 9pm

Nicholas Hoult as a child becomes friends with Hugh Grant and teaches him how to become a better person. A sweet comedy.

Atomic Blonde – FilmFour – 9pm

Thriller/action film starring Charlize Theron as a Debbie Harry lookalike spy whose life is in grave danger at the hands of various other spies and assassins.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
