It’s Wednesday.

It’s time for us to look at what movies are on TV this evening.

You’ll be happy to know, there’s a variety of choices and even a few good ones.

Here’s the pick of what’s on.

Warcraft – Film4 – 6.40pm

Based on the World Of Warcraft games, but I don’t think even fans of the games liked this movie.

There’s a lot of violence if that’s what you’re in the mood for, though.

The Mountain Between Us – RTÉ One – 9.35pm

Idris Elba and Kate Winslet are stranded in the Ural mountains following a plane crash. The only way to survive is to try and make it to civilisation.

“I thought this was a great movie, and it definitely deserved more love from the media. Don’t worry about not having the best rating on rotten tomatoes. Those websites have pretty much lost all respect from the public they may have once had, and should probably be rendered obsolete. I rate it 4 out of 5 stars, and id [sic] definitely recommend this to friends and family!” – Cameron Stang on Google Reviews.

Cold War – Film4 – 9pm

Two people living in Poland during the Cold War begin an unlikely romance.

Described by the Washington Post as a “near perfect film.”

40 Days and 40 Nights – Comedy Central – 10pm

Romantic comedy with Josh Hartnett as the lead.

Fun fact about Hartnett; he lived in Dublin for about three winters while filming his hit drama series Penny Dreadful.

Lucy – Film4 – 10.45pm

Scarlett Johansson stars in this sci-fi-action movie about a woman who takes mind altering drugs that turns her into some kind of super-human.

An easy watch, as long as you don’t pick at its holes.

Gran Torino – ITV4 – 11.40pm

Clint Eastwood plays a hard nosed Korean War veteran who takes a young man from his neighbourhood under his wing.

Eastwood fans, you’ve probably already seen it. But if you haven’t, you’ll love it.
