Here are the best movies on TV this evening

It’s Tuesday.

While restrictions have eased somewhat in many parts of Ireland and the days aren’t quite blending together without distinction as they once were, there’s still an air of uncertainty around the future.

As a result, sometimes it takes a moment of two of consideration to establish what day of the week it actually is.

There’s a word for this, according to E. Alison Holman, Ph.D., a psychologist and an associate professor with the University of California, Irvine Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing.

It’s a phenomenon called “temporal disintegration”.

“People lose track of time when the future is in question,” Dr Holman said. “The continuity from the past to the future is gone. That’s what they are experiencing right now.”

So that’s why our opening line of the article was, “It’s Tuesday”. It’s as much to remind ourselves as it is to remind you.

Let’s take a look at what movies are on TV this Monday Tuesday.

God’s of Egypt – Film4 – 6.35pm

I don’t like being mean, but there’s literally nothing good to say about this movie.

Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story – E4 – 9pm

Dwight: “We’re still missing the teenage love puppy and Steve the Pirate.”
Owen: “Who’s Steve the Pirate?”
Dwight: “The only guy on our team that dresses like a pirate.”
Owen: “Wait, there’s a guy on our team who dresses like a pirate?”

Disobedience – Film4 – 9pm

Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz star in this movie about repressed romance. A slow burner but some magnificent performances make this worth seeing.

The Town – RTÉ2 – 9.30pm

Ben Affleck, Jeremy Renner, Blake Lively, Jon Hamm and Rebecca Hall lead this Boston crime drama.

A cops and robbers story with some curveballs thrown along the way and the pick of the TV tonight.

Passenger 57 – ITV4 – 10pm

This movie was on last week as well.

A classic 90s action movie about a retired anti-terrorist expert who finds himself dragged back into his old world when a terrorist takes over the plane he’s on.

On another note, the lead character’s name is John Cutter. That should be enough to make you watch it.

Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason – Channel 5 – 10.05pm

This was made purely for money and you can tell.
