Movies on TV

It’s still rather windy out.

We’re past midweek and the worst of Storm Ellen has passed… we hope at least.

So if you’re staying in tonight, these are the best movies on the television.

Ride Along 2 – Film4 – 7pm

Further wacky antics with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart.

The Gauntlet – ITV4 – 9pm

Clint Eastwood plays a cop who escorts a prostitute across America so she can give evidence in a high-profile mob trial. However, corrupt officials are hell-bent on ensuring the witness never makes it to court, and subject the pair to a series of attacks.

It also contains a burgeoning romance.

The Bank Job – Film 4 – 9pm

Jason Statham lends a strong mix of cool and cautious to underrated heist drama The Bank Job, which his fans will love.

As Good As It Gets – Comedy Central – 9pm

Jack Nicholson plays the cranky, narcissistic and OCD suffering, Melvin Udall.

Features some hilarious but razor sharp dialogue.

The Mechanic – SyFy – 9pm

Jason Statham has revenge on his mind and although the title may mislead you, it’s got nothing to do with a dodgy service; he’s out to get the guys who killed his close friend and mentor, played here by Donald Sutherland. Passable Statham fare.

Inglorious Basterds – ITV4 – 11.10pm

Tarantino’s best work? Potentially.

Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and a host of others combine their skills to bring down Hitler and the entire Nazi empire.

Don’t base your history essay on it.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
