Movies on TV

Monday, Monday.

I don’t actually know any of the rest of the words to that song, so you’ll have to fill the blanks in yourself.

As we head towards mid-May, the weather is getting colder somehow and we’re still indoors. Movies are still one of few sources of entertainment we have left. Here are the best options on the box tonight.

40-Year-Old Virgin – Sky One – 9pm

Steve Carell stars in a comedy about virginity, something we are all a lot more familiar with after this many months of self-isolation.

Monster Island – Syfy – 9pm

“What he meant is that Monster Island is actually a peninsula.”

The Adjustment Bureau – TG4 – 9.30pm

Back before he was doing his shopping in SuperValu in Dalkey, Matt Damon was a movie star. He stars in The Adjustment Bureau, a creepy thriller about a shadowy organisation that decides your fate.

The Normal Heart – Sky Atlantic – 10.10pm

A doctor in 1980s New York treats some of the first people in America to be diagnosed with Aids, while a gay rights activist investigates the new disease that people around him are dying from. However, they both face opposition from medical authorities, which refuse to recognise the danger. Based on a true story, starring Mark Ruffalo and Julia Roberts.

Van Helsing – ITV4 – 10.30pm

Hugh Jackman plays a vampire slayer going after the big prize: Dracula.

The Expendables 3 – Channel 5 – 11.05pm

The supergroup of actions heroes: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, Wesley Snipes, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Glen Powell, and Victor Ortiz.

But most importantly? Kelsey Grammer, the guy who played Frasier Crane.
