Movies on TV

Another day ticked off the calendar.

As Thursday winds down, there is still a pleasant evening ahead, and one of the things that makes it so pleasant is the prospect of watching some movies on TV. We’ve found a few you might like and listed them below.

Just be warned that before we get into the list: these are not great films. They are, for the most part, watchable at best. Don’t shoot the messenger.

King Ralph – Sky Comedy – 9m

John Goodman stars as a Vegas performer who becomes King of England when the whole royal family is wiped out. Also stars such cinematic greats as Peter O’Toole and John Hurt.

Casino Royale – ITV4 – 8pm

The original one, rather than the new (better) one.

Dinner For Schmucks – Comedy Central Extra – 9pm

A comedy where rising businessman Paul Rudd needs to find the biggest freak he can in order to impress his bosses at a cruel dinner game. He finds Steve Carell.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose – Horror Channel – 9pm

A girl dies while being exorcised by a priest, and the priest is charged with manslaughter. As the court case unfolds, things become increasingly horrifying.

The Gauntlet – ITV4 – 10.35pm

Clint Eastwood plays a cop who escorts a prostitute across America so she can give evidence in a high-profile mob trial. However, corrupt officials are hell-bent on ensuring the witness never makes it to court, and subject the pair to a series of attacks. Meanwhile, the mismatched duo’s bid to reach their destination alive is complicated by a burgeoning romance.

Gleaming The Cube – Virgin Media One – 11pm

This has to be one of the worst film titles I have ever heard. A young Christian Slater plays a skater seeking his brother’s killers. Features cameos from Tony Hawk, Tommy Guerrero, Mike McGill and other famous skaters.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
