movies on TV today

It’s *checks notes* Thursday.

It’s January and we’re in the midst of some Level 5 restrictions.

It’s a tough time for many so here’s some handy numbers that may be of use to you or others.

  • Samaritans: 116 123
  • Aware: 1800 804 848
  • Pieta House: 1800 247 247
  • Jigsaw: 1800 544729
  • Alone: 0818 222 024
  • Childline: 1800 666 666

We’re here to you today to talk about movies on TV. I wouldn’t say we’re exactly spoiled for choice tonight, but neither are we fallow like some other weeknights.

Tonight we’ve got a typical Michael Bay movie, another about a scandal which caused a President to resign, and a James Bond movie so bad that people tried to forget it was ever made.

Without further ado, here are the best movies on TV tonight.

All The President’s Men – BBC Four – 9pm

The story how reporters Woodward and Bernstein uncovered the details of the Watergate scandal that led to President Nixon’s resignation.

The Equalizer – Film4 – 9pm

This only has a 59% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but it’s a very enjoyable 132 minutes… if you’re a fan of violence and one liners.

Transformers – Sky One – 9pm

A plethora of explosions and stunts as Michael Bay directs a robot invasion of Earth*.

*This may not be an entirely accurate description.

Casino Royale – ITV4 – 9pm

Nope, not the one starring Daniel Craig. This is an oldie made in 1967 starring David Niven and Ursula Andress.

Has been very much swept under the rug in the years since its release.

American Pie: The Wedding – Comedy Central – 9pm

Same people, similar punchlines.

Airplane! – ITV4 – 11.40pm

“Looks like I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue.”

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
