Movies on TV

We are on the second day of Phase One.

The gears are grinding slowly as we reopen. We must not get ahead of ourselves. We must maintain the proper precautions. We must watch movies on TV sometimes. Here are some of the best options on tonight (19 May).

Cape Fear – Sky Atlantic – 9pm

Robert De Niro plays a psychopath released from prison who sets about terrorising a family until they flee to their houseboat. Sound familiar? There’s a Simpsons episode based on it. This one is directed by Martin Scorsese and also stars Nick Nolte.

The Gauntlet – ITV – 9pm

A cross-country action adventure movie that sees Clint Eastwood trying to transport a witness all the way across America while everyone else tries to take him down.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry – Sky One – 10pm

Adam Sandler and Kevin James engage in a sham wedding as part of some kind of insurance fraud plot. Let’s just say… not Sandler’s best work.

Hellraiser – Horror Channel – 10.50pm

Seems a little early in the year for this kind of Hallowe’en scariness but hey if that’s what you’re into, have at it.

30 Days of Night – Syfy – 11pm

Vampires roam Alaska. Not going to put you in a better mood about the current state of the world.

Senna – ITV4 – 11.10pm

If you’ve just finished The Last Dance and you’re looking for a new sports documentary to fill the void, you cannot do better than Senna.
